DrProject is a web-based software project management portal that integrates a revision history viewer with issue tracking, mailing list management, a wiki, and other features.
The Project: Redesign the web-based administration interface for DrProject
The overall goal is to redesign the web-based administration interface for DrProject:- Onboarding: Make yourself familiar with the team to understand various roles.
- Interview users to find out where breakdowns occur (over IRC or email).
- Conduct cognitive walkthrough to discover other potential breakdowns.
- Redesign workflow based on current and future tasks and activities.
- Mockup new interface prototype.
- Test prototypes with users.
- Redesign interface.
- Test interface with users.
- Continue design iterations until stakeholders are satisfied.
The Mentors:
Your usability mentor will be Paula Bach, PhD Candidate at the Computer Supported Collaboration and Learning Lab at Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology. Your technical mentor will be Prof. Greg Wilson from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto.
Student Intern:
From May till August 2008, Liz Blankenship, a student of Science in Information, will support DrProject usability-wise.
