Supporting TV Viewers with TV-Browser

Project Opening 9

TV-Browser is a digital TV guide. TV-Browser supports viewers to search for certain shows, actors or topics. Users can set up reminders for certain shows and program recordings on their digital VCR. Or they simply look what is on TV right now and what will be running next.

The Project:

TV-Browser is a pretty mature project which has gone a long way with several Open Usability projects. But still there are many not yet realised ideas. It is up to you, where you want to set your focus. You may:

Prove your ability as an interaction designer:

  • find ways to integrate a powerfull and individually adjustable filter- and search-system
  • optimize the printing dialogues

Check the usability of the TV-Browser:

  • Design and conduct user-tests with TV-Browser
  • Set-Up a questionaire to evaluate actual use of TV-Browser

Show us your ideas in requirement-analysis:

  • find ways to identify the needs and wants of the users to structure and prioritize for the ongoing development

And - of course - if you have any ideas you would like to realise the developers will be more than happy about your creative input!

The Mentors:

You will be supervised by Björn Balazs from Apliki, one of our experienced Open Usability Experts and Bodo Tasche, the main developer of TV-Browser.

Your Qualification:

As the language of the development team is mainly German, you ideally speak German - but English is possible, too.

Your Application:

Now - what are you waiting for? Apply for this project, describe your ideas and convince us, that you are passionate...

  • Apply for this opening by sending your application including a short CV and why you chose TV Browser to students at openusability org.
  • Application Deadline: 2008, April 14
